Legendary Spanish-French designer Paco Rabanne passed away on 3 February at the age of 88. In his own words: "We enjoy ourselves immensely here. Basically, we make clothes, we try them on the model, and we burst out laughing for a whole day. It’s wonderfully fun." As a tribute to his vision and legacy, creative director Julien Dossena honoured the eponymous founder in an Autumn/Winter collection that celebrates his artistic expression and contribution to fashion.
Though the collection was largely completed by the time of Rabanne's passing, the late visionary's essence is clearly woven throughout. The collection is a riot of textures, with faux-fur hems constructed from wool, tinsel-like co-ords sprinkled with lurex and metal fringing. There are even pieces that evoke mythical goddesses, thanks to athenian silhouettes and armour-esque plating, teamed with sneakers to bring them back into 2023. Dossena also paid homage to Rabanne's friendship with Salvador Dalí by collaborating with the Dalí Foundation; four paintings are splashed on dresses, while the artist's influence is also evident through accessories and embellishments.
Five archival dresses closed the show, all of which featured the designer's signature chain-link metallic disks and represented five decades of Paco Rabanne designs. See all the looks in the gallery above and watch the show below.
