My Summer: Heidi Raeside

Jun 25, 2015 | 4 min read

We take a peek into the founder of Tuesday's Child's summer

We catch up with mother, wife and founder of Tuesday’s Child, Heidi Raeside, to talk style inspiration and summer reading lists. With Australian adventures and two young children – the My Summer series has found the UAE’s busiest blogger.

Where will you be travelling to?

My parents live in the south island of New Zealand, near the vineyard region of Marlborough. It’s winter there in the Dubai summer and now that I have kids, we escape there every summer for a couple of months. We’ll also be spending a week in Sydney on the way home - I’m looking forward to some cosmopolitan city life.

How do you keep everyone entertained?

Exercise your best in-built entertainment muscles: imagination and conversation. So we talk A LOT! It’s working so far - my kids are total chatterbox fantasists!

Beauty essentials?

Whether by air or sea, it’s moisturiser.  I swear by Ren and the Calm Global Protection Day Cream wherever I am. We also all use Dr. Lucas Paw Paw for everything from insect bites, chapped skin or minor burns.

Your style for 2015?

For the cooler weather down-under, lots of denim and my leather biker jacket. I’m also wearing a lot of seventies shapes and I always love peasant-style tops and dresses.

Summer inspirations?

Travel, music, literature and social media (in particular Instagram).

Any style muses?

Internationally, Kate Moss, Alexa Chung, Tash Sefton, Elle Ferguson and Bridget Bardot. Locally, I follow Teresa Karpinska and Natalia Shustova.

How do you workout while on the move?

I love to run. It clears my head and keeps me fit - it’s also the most flexible of workouts when you’re travelling. All I need are my trainers and iPod.

What will you be reading this summer?

I’m a ferocious reader.  I’ve already bought my third Donna Tartt novel - The Little Friend - my fourth Sebastian Faulks – Birdsong - and A Fine Balance by Rohinton Mistry to consume whilst travelling. I’ve just finished my second Lionel Shriver, The New Republic, which was brilliant.

Anything we should add to our reading list?

The books I am highly recommending to my friends for this summer’s reading lists are Thrive by Arriana Huffington, Lean In by Sheryl Sandberg and How to Be a Woman by Caitlin Moran.
