For Chanel's spring/summer Haute Couture collection, creative director Virginie Viard found inspiration in Gabrielle Chanel’s Rue Cambon apartment – specifically, the collectable objects, artworks and sculptures scattered throughout the space; kittens, corgis and swallows are embroidered onto tweed suits alongside emblems of the House.
The collection is youthful with an easy-to-wear lightness, though with all the traditional marks of Chanel couture. Tweed day suits, this time constructed with glittering metallic-gold threads; top hats teamed with silk tulle; and beaded dresses begging to be twirled in.
