It was a big night for television and movie stars alike as the 22nd Screen Actors Guild Awards set a remarkable example by focussing on diversity and distinguished achievements of women in the entertainment industry.
Orange Is The New Black’s all female star cast and Spotlight scored the Outstanding Performance By An Ensemble in best series and best film categories respectively, which showcased the efforts of a diverse group of talent collectively as actress Uzo Aduba took home a trophy for the second year in a row. Another significant moment for the industry was when actor Idris Elba made history as the first male to win two SAG awards in one night, after a debatable snub from the Academy Awards. Our dreams came true as outspoken comediennes and presenters for the night Tina Fey and Amy Poehler reunited on stage to present actress and comic Carol Burnett with the evening’s Life Achievement Award in a hilarious introduction while taking a jab at Leonardo DiCaprio for his Outstanding performance in The Revenant.
Alicia Vikander for The Danish Girl and Brie Larson for Room were the biggest winners on and off the red carpet as they dazzled in gorgeous couture dresses to collect their awards for Outstanding Performance in Supporting and Lead roles.
