Nicolas Ghesquiére’s cruise show for Louis Vuitton began with the quiet whispers of shock at the sheer beauty of the location, a curved runway created in comedian Bob Hope’s modernist home in Palm Springs, which left attendees in awe.

The iconic French fashion house’s guests were welcomed by futuristic models adorning colourful make-up created by Pat McGrath – however the aesthetic of the show changed dramatically from the moment the first model came into sight. Gone were the heavily backcombed hairstyles and rainbow faces; instead bare, natural skin glided down the spiral stairway and took to the runway. Soft feminine flowing maxi skirts and folk-inspired prints were mixed with strong leather dresses and contemporary printed co-ords – a fashionable vision of the future in the spaceship-esque location.
