Birkenstocks are the ultimate dad sandal; comfortable, versatile and robust. That being said, you won't find anyone from the style set without a pair in their shoe collection, much for the same reasons they're beloved by practical dressers. It's this newfound appreciation for comfortable footwear - who'd have thought such a thing existed? - that has Birkenstock's popularity skyrocketing, with designers running (comfortably) to collaborate. The latest Birkenstock collaboration comes courtesy of Kim Jones, who unveiled two Dior x Birkenstock styles for Dior Men Winter 22/23.
The Tokyo Mules and Milano Sandals have been sufficiently Diorified in the Dior Grey colourway with the Dior Oblique Motif on the sole intertwined with Birkenstock's bone pattern. The Milano Sandals are dressed in suede and feature industrial buckles inspired by the Saddle Bag. An ode to Monsieur Dior's love of nature and gardening, the felt-lined Tokio Mules are embroidered with delicate flowers (though they're available sans blooms if you're not the nature-loving type).
Proenza Schouler, Jil Sander and Rick Owens are just some of the brands that have given Birkenstock a high-fashion makeover in the past and, judging by the sell-out success of those collaborations, you better have your cards at the ready come June when the unisex capsule hits stores.
