When one thinks of Delpozo it's hard not to imagine the whimsical, highly romantic pieces with an unexpected structured edge that have come to define the brand. This aesthetic is the result of Josep Font, a Spanish designer who has raised the profile of the brand significantly since joining in 2012 thanks to his love of colour and unusual silhouettes. Font’s background in architecture is evident in all his designs playing out in sculpted waves, mesmerising patterns and origami-like folds that somehow manage to be both old-world and modern at the same time. Paying attention to the smallest of details, from frothy tulle frills to oversized bows and fringed rosettes, Font’s exacting eye sees the most delicate embellishments and flourishes applied to his pret-a-couture garments. We spoke to the designer to find out everything about his highly covetable, latest capsule collection set to launch exclusively on e-commerce site Stylebop.com today.
We wanted to take a step further in our partnership. We’ve been partners for a few seasons now, and due to the great relationship we wanted to do something unique for the holiday season.
The collection has a total of five ready-to-wear pieces crafted into elegant silhouettes from very rich fabrics. There’s three evening dresses, one short skirt and one poplin top. All these pieces perfectly match with the accessories from the Resort 2018 collection too.
I wanted to do something neutral and versatile but without losing the essence of Delpozo. Navy blue is always elegant and I included a touch of soft powder pink to give light to the capsule. Accessories in vibrant colours such as the mini bow clutch and bow ballerina will make an elevated statement.
We wanted to do statement pieces that used fluid fabrics and textures. For me it was very important that the collection would feel complete and cohesive, and that customers could find a variety of pieces within it.
I envision a woman who is not defined by nationality, age, profession or background. She dresses for herself and not for others. She’s delicate yet strong, modern and feminine and she’s a citizen of the world.
It’s difficult for me to choose, all the pieces have something special for me, but I do love the bi-color tulle gown that is perfect for a formal event and the short skirt combined with a poplin shirt for daytime or the office.
The pieces are very special and the Delpozo woman knows what suits her lifestyle best. They are made for a woman who dresses for herself and can wear them from day to night with ease.
