If you’re ever feeling down, you can always count on Jonathan Anderson. Case in point? For his second collaboration for Loewe with Studio Ghibli – the first came back in January last year, inspired by the Japanese animation studio’s 1988 film My Friend Totoro – the Northern Irish designer is celebrating one of the studio’s most acclaimed releases, Spirited Away, with a playful limited edition capsule collection featuring characters from the 2001 film.
The first drop came last month and new pieces have been added to the collection just in time for Spring. Chihiro Ogino, Yubaba, Boh and no-face spirit Kaonashi all come rendered as jacquard print, appliqué, leather marquetry or embroidery, gracing the fabric of wallets, hoodies, shirts and iconic bags (the Amazona, Puzzle, Hammock and Flamenco to be exact). The capsule also showcases Loewe’s love for craft with pieces inspired by a traditional Japanese stitching technique known as boro. Here, mended and indigo-dyed scraps are patchworked together to create unique textiles. We want it all. Loewe x Spirited Away is available at Loewe boutiques nationwide and online
