Guests were welcomed to Hôtel Majestic Barrière Cannes with bundles of peonies, panama hats and the brand’s So Real sunglasses and vital beauty products for recreating the natural, Dior-dewy look – so it wasn’t long before the last minute change of venue (from Los Angeles to Cannes) was forgotten. Fashion editors, muses and even the legendary Pierre Cardin – who now calls the Bubble Palace home – sat beside the infinity pool on the front row and with a sprinkle of the French fashion house’s magic, the terra-cotta walls came alive with an abundance of plaid.

Nurturing heritage, the low-heeled pointed boot was a flash from the past, a gentle reminder of the Roger Vivier era – however the nostalgia ended there - with chain-printed bags, a plethora of prints and the incorporation of plaid into the futuristic silhouettes Simons was quick to define his vision. Modern structured sundresses took to the runway in the creative director’s plaid obsession, breaking the rules for beach-side style alongside texturized designs challenging the architecture of the unique location. It's a future we've come to expect from Simons and his peers such as Ghesquire at Louis Vuitton and Miuccia at Prada.
