Valentine's Day all but took over our lives this week, therefore some news may have slipped through your radar. Not to worry, from the relaunch of an horological icon to Dubai's first mega-festival, here is a recap of the news you may have missed this week.
Don't Call It A Comeback
Twenty years after the debut of Dior's Chiffre Rouge timepiece collection, the iconic creations are being relaunched. The collection boasts multiple models in black-and-red colourways, reimagined to include the Maison's iconic codes, including finely engraved cannage. The sporty collection features five watches, three of which boast striking red elements at the date window and second hand. These timepieces bring the wearer into the secrets of the Maison, with subtle details paying homage to Monsieur Dior - his favourite number, eight, is the only digit in red on the date calendar. The remaining timepieces are completed by rose-gold finishings, with the most extroverted iteration featuring a rainbow-set bezel of sapphires, amethysts, tourmalines and rubies. More Than Words
Van Cleef & Arpels has collaborated with Emirati graphic designer and calligrapher Fatima Alketbi for a collection of calligraphy artworks celebrating the spirit of Ramadan. Fatima uses palm fronds to create Arabic calligraphy, drawing inspiration from her Emirati roots and the UAE landscape, and in-keeping with both Fatima and Van Cleef and Arpels' philosophies of maintaining heritage.
