Dior Selects Kyoto As The Destination For Its Autumn 2025 Show

Jan 21, 2025 | 2 min read

If there’s one thing Dior knows how to do, it is making history look like the future

The whispers have officially been confirmed: Dior is heading east for its Autumn 2025 collection and it's happening in high style. On 15 April, Maria Grazia Chiuri’s vision will unfold against the backdrop of Kyoto’s mystical To-ji Temple and Gardens - a setting that is as steeped in history as it is Insta-worthy.

As one of Japan’s most iconic UNESCO World Heritage Sites, To-ji has stood tall since 796, once serving as a spiritual guardian of the imperial capital. Fast forward to 2025, and it is about to house a very different kind of congregation - one filled with couture, creativity and a heavy dose of jet-setting opulence.

Though seemingly a surprising choice to some, Dior's love affair with Japan is nothing new. In fact, Christian Dior himself was smitten. Back in the 1950s, he collaborated with a Kyoto silk workshop to create pieces that seamlessly married Japanese craftsmanship with his signature haute couture aesthetic. This is the side of Dior that often gets overshadowed by his “New Look” revolution. But Chiuri is ready to reignite that romance.

With fashion’s eyes increasingly locked on the Asia Pacific region, Dior’s move to Kyoto feels both strategic and poetic. After stops in Seoul, Mumbai and New York, Kyoto marks another chapter in the brand’s globetrotting narrative.  Expect a collection that dances between tradition and reinvention, with silks that whisper stories of ancient Kyoto and silhouettes that shout modernity.
