The 2015 CDFA Fashion Awards was staged last night in Manhattan in an aim to recognise extraordinary design talent across the fashion industry. Scooping the coveted Womenswear Designer of the Year award were design duo - and sisters - Mary Kate and Ashely Olsen, celebrated for their incredibly luxe and highly desirable The Row line.

Elsewhere the ever-dapper Tom Ford picked up Menswear Designer of the Year, Tabitha Simmons was awarded with the Accessories Designer of the Year for her fun and flirtatious footwear creations. Rosie Assoulin's modern, architectural designs were given the nod of approval from the CFDA, receiving the Swarovski Award for Womenswear, whilst Shayne Oliver's brilliant work for Hood by Air was rightly given the same for Menswear. The International Award went to Valentino's creative directors Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli, with the night drawing to a close by celebrating the incredible career of Betsey Johnson with the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement.

On the red carpet the fashion industry insiders pulled out all the stops. Many stuck to the archetypal CFDA colour palette of black, white and red - save Gigi Hadid rocking a gold seventies inspired Michael Kors jumpsuit. Supporting American talent were Emmy Rossum in a clever cut-out Thakoon cocktail dress, Diane Kruger in a crystallised column gown courtesy of Prabal Gurung and Amanda Seyfried who went off kilter in a Rodarte multi-media dress.
