One of the most prolific personalities in the fashion industry has died in Paris...

Today marks a tragic day in the fashion industry as Chanel's beloved Creative Director, Karl Lagerfeld, has died.

Just days away from showcasing his latest creations for the French maison during Paris Fashion Week, King Karl has sadly passed away in Paris, aged 85.

There was much speculation surrounding his health following his most recent Haute Couture show in January. The designer did not take his bow at the end of the show leaving many to wonder about his health.

However, the designer had been unwell for several weeks but continued to work tirelessly until the end.

Virginie Viard, the Director of Chanel's Fashion Creation Studio, will continue the legacy of Karl and Gabrielle Chanel.

In a statement released earlier today, Pier Paolo Righi, the CEO of Karl Lagerfeld stores, said: "The world has lost an icon. Karl Lagerfeld was a creative genius; he was influential, curious, powerful and passionate. He leaves behind an extraordinary legacy as one of the greatest designers of our time. I feel so blessed to have had the opportunity to have known and worked with him, and there are no words to express how much he will be missed."

With a career that spans over seven decades, the iconic designer has become one of the industry's most iconic designers. With creative directorship at Chanel, Fendi and his namesake brand under his belt, we're certain his presence will be missed.
