Former Dior Homme designer Kris Van Assche goes to Berluti
The latest move in the musical chairs game of creative director sees former Dior Homme designer Kris Van Assche succeed Haider Ackermann at Berluti. The Belgian designer, who recently exited Dior Homme after 11 years at the creative helm, will show his first collection for the brand in January 2019 as head of shoes, ready-to-wear and accessories. Antoine Arnault, ceo of Berluti, said he was “delighted” to welcome Van Assche to the house. “I have known him for several years, have always admired his work at Dior Homme and I am looking forward to working with him,” he said in a statement via Instagram. What sneaker enthusiast Van Assche will do at Berluti, a brand famous for its classical handmade shoes has caused some excitement amongst industry insiders. “I have always wanted to build bridges between the savoir-faire, the heritage of a house and my clear-cut contemporary vision,” added the designer on his own Instagram. “Antoine Arnault spoke to me of his ambitions for Berluti and it is with great pleasure that I accept this new challenge which fits perfectly with my own will and vision.” With the great big shuffle happening over at LVMH, we are sure that this won't be the last designer move we hear about at the French luxury giant.
