In a significant moment for the fashion world, Alberta Ferretti has announced she will be stepping down as the creative director of her namesake brand after more than 40 years. The Italian designer shared the news just days after presenting her Spring/Summer 2025 collection at Milan Fashion Week.
While Ferretti, 74, will be stepping back from her creative role, she will remain actively involved in the company, continuing as vice president of Aeffe Group, the family-run business that owns her eponymous label alongside Moschino, Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini and Pollini.
In a heartfelt statement, Ferretti explained her decision, saying: "I believe that at this point of my career it is a right and conscious choice to pave the way for a new creative chapter for the brand I founded and which will continue to bear my name." The designer's words signal her intention to remain connected to the brand’s future while allowing new creative leadership to emerge.
She also expressed gratitude to her brother, Massimo Ferretti, chairman of Aeffe Group, stating: "I owe much of this journey to my brother, Massimo, whose dedication has been a constant source of strength."
As Ferretti steps into a new role within the company, the fashion world awaits the announcement of the brand’s next creative director and what the future holds for Alberta Ferretti’s iconic label.
