Have you ever wondered what some of your favourite female figures get up to each day? MOJEH’s A Day In The Life series follows some of the region’s most influential female movers and shakers, from business owners and entrepreneurs to fashion designers and art gallery owners. This week we’re talking to Meera Toukan, founder and director of her namesake handbag label which is renowned for crafting adorable glossy plexiglass clutches hand-made by skilled Jordanian artisans.
I’m a morning person, so I normally wake up at around 6am – I find this makes me more positive and productive as it helps me achieve more throughout the day.
A light breakfast of granola and yoghurt with fruits and orange juice followed by a high intensity workout and dog walk. After, my workout I grab my coffee and start my day visiting the workshop and working on customers orders.
As the founder and creative director of Meera Toukan, I’m responsible for the creation of the product I have to be hands on. I like to inspect every order and add in my personal touch before they are packaged for delivery.
It normally consists of visiting the workshop to check on orders or new products, hopping on Zoom meetings, and continuously looking for inspirations to come up with new design ideas.
I tend to go for causal and comfy attire, even if it means being in workout clothes. I like to feel comfortable and energetic.
I try to maintain a healthy lifestyle so I make sure to have my daily intake of protein, carbs and vegetables all in one meal. My lunch normally consists of a big portion of salad with rice or potatoes, plus chicken or fish as protein - I’m not really a red meat fan.
I keep it very simple. I moisturise my skin then apply some BB cream and concealer for a little bit of coverage, followed by some blush and mascara.
It gives me the freedom to express myself, my personality and my thoughts, and allows me to think freely and think outside the box.
It’s a fast-paced world and we sometimes forget to stop and appreciate the little things around us. I’ve been guilty of that. I aim to allocate more time during the day to reflect and appreciate the every little success.
Have my dinner then take a look at my e-mails and Instagram direct messages one last time. After that I take some “me” time, and that usually consists of painting, reading or just watching a movie before calling it a day.
My phone.
Put on my EarPods and take my dog for a long walk.
I can’t specify a dream job, but I’d definitely want to be in the creative industry- leaning towards PR and marketing and maybe a side hustle that allows me to be a fitness instructor.
