MFW: Our Five Favourite Looks From Giorgio Armani

Charmani was the title given to Giorgio Armani’s ss17 collection, a term explained in his show notes as “the lightness of the body, seductively revealing itself, finding a new balance between discipline and freedom.” The notes went onto explain that Mr. Armani had aimed to explore a “sense of elegance and sensuality, but also of magic and femininity” with the collection. When the show got underway, this translated to a collection of fluid shapes, lightweight fabrics and abstract, dreamy prints in a spectrum of blues, greys and shimmery silvers. There was a lot of gentle fringing which worked to accentuate movement as well as delicate, high shine embellishments that brought an air of enchantment to the clothes they adorned. There was a mysterious under the sea type aura to this collection caused by the deep iridescent colours and hazy, languid prints. The varying shapes, proportions and hemlines cast clothes into distinct categories – the glimmering column dresses evening elegant, the swooshing miniskirts made for sunny summer days and the embellished blazers perfect for day to night dressing.
