MFW: Accessory Focus – Fendi

0.5 min read

While Karl Lagerfeld’s spring/summer 17 collection for Fendi offered up two uniquely different aesthetics, careful styling and details ensured that the collection still felt cohesive. At one end of the spectrum were feminine dresses and skirts in pinks and pastels embellished with florals, butterflies and bows and at the other, block stripes in bold colours signified a sportswear movement. This had an interesting effect on accessories; bags with rosebuds, pom-poms and shoelace details took a turn down the runway alongside striped athletic shoes and boots. The vastly different colours, fabrics and details of the bags not only showcase Lagerfeld’s creativity, it also enables them to appeal to consumers of all ages.

Athletic Appeal

Lagerfeld’s take on sportswear materialised in the form of heeled lace-up booties in a range of colourful rugby stripes.

Metal Magic

Applique floral details were sewn on to metallic leather bags and juxtaposed against hardware studs of varying shapes and sizes.

Budding Beauties

Delicate rosebud details adorned handpainted miniature satchel bags with wide, scalloped guitar-style straps.

Stripes and Studs

Bag flaps with wide coloured stripes were decorated with large studs and fur charms.

Embellished Exotics

Python skin bags were embroidered with dainty flowers and silky shoelace style ribbons marked out edges and handles.
