Nicolas Ghesquière created a whole new world with his continuation into retro-futurism for Louis Vuitton SS16.

Always falling on the morning of the final day of Paris Fashion Week (and concluding the entire fashion week season) Louis Vuitton is (without fail) a highly anticipated show. Beaming futuristic lights and pounding music opened the show in the new Louis Vuitton Fondation. Ghesquière has previously said in the past ‘my recipe remains the same’ and this season was no different. Sci-fi cinema, video games and clear references to the Nineties were evident. Models strutted the runway as though they had emerged from a far off galaxy. A bubblegum pink leather jacket edged with patent black tape set the tone. In an array of rainbow-hues, constructed silhouettes in oversized pieces formed the backbone of the entire collection. Victoriana white cotton ruffles and metal zippers were all tied together, relaying Ghesquière’s vision of the meeting of two worlds.
From chunky to solid structures, accessories took a tough turn. Creeper sandals and knuckle dusters gave a hard-girl vibe. Bags nonchalantly dangled from wrists as the perfect stylish accessory for any effortlessly cool woman.
Make-up artist Pat McGrath and hair stylist Paul Hanlon produced the statement-making beauty looks. Fusing rough and slick elements, hair was bright and lower lashes were in artistic clusters.
