Virgil Abloh’s Louis Vuitton x NBA Collection Isn’t Just For The Boys

Virgil Abloh's second Louis Vuitton x NBA collection is a throwback to 90s basketball

The second instalment of Virgil Abloh’s LV x NBA collection combines the best of style and sport in one limited edition capsule

When the Virgil Abloh-led Louis Vuitton collaboration with the National Basketball Association first landed in stores in 2020, it instantly became one of the most coveted luxury capsule collections from the House in recent history. And while technically for men, it was full to the brim with chic accessories that lend themselves to all genders. The rise of streetwear and athleisure has blurred the lines of gendered clothing, as women are often borrowing staples from the boys; we dare you to try taking our oversized blazers, letterman jackets and bags (that actually hold more than a lipstick, imagine!) from us.

Now in its second season, the LV x NBA collection is back for pre-fall 2021, once again exploring the artistic director’s memories of 1990s basketball mania. Fusing trademarks of both brands, this time around expect a celebration of pop culture, fashion and sports including casualwear manifested in relaxed takes on suits, hoodies saturated in LV logos, plus the instantly recognisable holdall that comes adorned with the NBA logo and would take pride of place in our new season wardrobe.
