LFW: Bohemian Burberry

‘Patchwork, Pattern & Prints’ was the title of Burberry Prorsum’s AW15 collection and it was well-served, with a host of paisley-prints, suede patchwork and heavy fringing swarming the catwalk.

The MOJEH team, alongside other editors from across the world, eagerly awaited the new collection from creative director Christopher Bailey. Inspired by the patchwork technique associated with Bailey’s birthplace in East Yorkshire, there’s a feeling this show would be full of passion, sentiment and emotion.

Burberry’s romantic take on boho style introduced animal prints with the continuation of the patchwork and patterns promised in the title. Just like the change in seasons, the catwalk undertook a heritage revamp with the fringe element dominating the trench for AW15. Bailey replaced the signature heritage design with heavy-fringed ponchos, suede-fringed dresses and the most accessible addition to your winter wardrobe: the fringed bag.

The only competition for the festival-ready fringe was animal prints; the strong statement bags featured alone or with fringe combined Bailey’s two ultimate trends.

Drawing the glamorous show to an end, the dramatic revolutions continued with a performance from Burberry favourite, singer Clare Maguire, in celebration of this beautifully bohemian collection.
