Kristina Fidelskaya’s AW21 PFW Show Was Entirely Produced In The UAE

When it was announced last month that, due to Paris’ current pandemic restrictions, all 93 AW21 collections would be solely digital, it was another blow for the industry. However always one to take things in her stride, Dubai-based designer Kristina Fidelskaya used this as an opportunity to utilise the best of UAE’s creative talent, with the digital show, film and imagery all entirely produced in Sharjah at the Mlheiha Archeological Centre.

Entitled Bibi, Kristina’s AW21 collection is a subtle nod to “B.B”, a heroine of her time, a silver-screen icon, who’s enigmatic charisma captured the crowds, and who’s confidence inspired change. A name used as a term of respect, Bibi is the lady of the house, who commands her household, and the company she keeps.

Crafted for both ease and convenience, the collection’s designs were created to be worn on-the-go, from day to night, full of western fringe on showman silhouettes, soft layers of silk ruffles, tier-layered leather ensembles, delicate form-fitting dresses and bustier gowns. Timeless hues and soft shades, paired with sartorial comfort, make for a nonchalant fall season.

Comprising both contemporary classics, and eveningwear looks, Kristina makes use of the brand’s signature intricate hand-cut leather and cut-work suede, as well as cashmere wool, silk chiffon, floral sixties print, antenna cockerel feathers, accentuated by fringe, ruffles, and hoodies worn under hats – a unique combination of feminine silhouettes worked into contemporary sportswear.

When it comes to accessories there are two Kristina Fidelskaya hats made by Maison Michel Paris, the “Bibi” and the “Brigitte”, both available in three colorways of black, camel, and white while, as part of a continued collaboration with HALM, the collection also features the “Bino” bag re-edited in two new colorways, lin and sand. Inspired by an antique binocular case and memories of sightseeing expeditions – combined with the view of a personal journey and the concept of time-travel – they are a must-have addition to any autumn winter wardrobe.

We’re counting down the days to autumn already.
