It’s true what they say: the beauty is in the details. From Tibi to Edie Parker to Noon by Noor, the loveliness came from all the small things for autumn/winter 15 at NYFW.
Tibi’s Amy Smilovic wanted us to be snuggled up warm and away from the wintery winds. Hitting the runway in New York City’s The Waterfront, texture reigned supreme. With fuzz, fur and fuss-free touches, the softly subtle detail was dominant across coats to accessories.
Moving from nonchalant neutrals to light grey, the colour palette remained muted and calm. Slip-on mules were the perfect combination of a winter-warmer with a doze of youth-appeal. Large glazed gold earrings by designer Paige Novick hung and swung from ears like statement-making art sculptures.
Moving across Manhattan, the question was: what’s in a bag? Everything – if it’s by Edie Parker. From slogan-infused motifs plastered across fronts to swirling pearlized marble, clutches were more than a little cool.
From model Jessica Hart to style-maven Man Repeller, the crowd bundled in from the ice-covered streets of New York. The fashion elite always recognise a good thing when they see it.
It was Noon by Noor who dazzled with their detailing at the Lincoln Center. Designers Shaikha Noor Al Khalifa and Shaikha Haya Al Khalifa looked to the future - with a sartorial nod to the Sixties. Über feminine jewel-encrusted sleeves gave eveningwear some sophistication.
With a slight techy feel to the collection, floral embroideries touching waists on richly decadent fabrics lifted their vision to lady-like status.
