We got up close and personal with Diane Von Furstenberg backstage at NYFW

DVF, autumn/winter 15

DVF knows her woman. From sensuality to fantasy, her collection for autumn/winter 15 was all about one thing: seduction.

Backstage before the show the air was lit with frantic energy and sheer anticipation. As Diane greeted everyone with a warm welcome and an aura only a woman of her status can be gifted, naturally. With her elegant stature and polite greeting, she tells me: ‘the main inspiration is called seduction. It’s for the woman who is very much in command of her world during the day, and at night she inspires fantasy’. Season after season, the DVF woman is in command of who she is, where she’s going and who she wants to be.

On the runway, DVF told us to live fully and be proud of our past. From lace-back wrap dresses, electric blue suits and hourglass pinstripes, playful femininity was in an abundance. Her chosen palette spoke of lust, danger and passion. ‘I love the Middle East, and I think the women of the Middle East will love [all of] the black, red and blue’, she told me backstage. Of course, she’s right. And for the sensual statement-maker? A parka adorned in DVF red lips.

With a knowing smile, she concluded: ‘I want my clothes to be the friend in your wardrobe that makes you want to be the woman you want to be.’
