Both powerhouses in their own right, Kenzo and Chloé took to the runways at Paris Fashion Week yesterday with their own take on contemporary cool.
MOJEH went backstage with Kenzo’s co-creative directors, Humberto Leon and Carol Lim, to get an exclusive insight into the AW15 collection. The first thing that struck us about the show was the kaleidoscope of colours that took over the set. In keeping with the brands sporty aesthetic, the pair sent models out with trousers bearing a neon stripe down the leg, while windbreakers were given a luxurious update. Swathes of fabric were folded over models, with high necks appearing to be the order of the day. However, the Kenzo classics - punchy prints in striking colours - certainly didn't go a-miss. To add an edge to an otherwise simple beauty look, pared-back skin and bare lips were combined with eyes that were awash with statement white paint right up to the eyebrow. One thing is for sure: we'll be copying Kenzo’s monochrome manicure.

Meanwhile, over at Chloé, creative director Clare Waight Keller sent models down the runway displaying the brand’s typically soft, feminine feel, although giving it an altogether more wintery makeover with thick knits and fur. Coats were thrown over lace (which was even seen embellishing suede dresses) and knits were worn over plunging necklines. Hair and make-up was kept simple and ethereal in keeping with Chloé’s classic pared-back beauty aesthetic. The brands bohemian vibe was maintained with natural fabrics and skins while hues were kept neutral, bar a splashing of yellow snakeskin and a standout head-to-toe look in bright patchwork. Most surprising of all, last season’s winner - denim - was used sparingly and only seen hidden under thick shearling coats, with ringlets of fur tumbling over the top.
