“It’s kind of a thank you to Paris,” says the designer during his haute couture show presenting a collection as romantic as the city itself. He makes references to four of the city’s great gardens — Bagatelle, Palais-Royal, Luxembourg and the Tuileries in sweet floral decorated in embroidered pastel palettes, swirling garlands on high-low gowns of lace macramé and rosebush motif on a short coat in white mink. Valli treated showgoers to his sixties inspired shifts dresses with shoulders and sleeves ringed with delicate organza ruffles, intricate embroideries and caped backs that added flamboyance to the collection. Subtle appliqués and gridded crystals made a grand comeback in the blooming pieces. The show stopping grandiose gown dazzled the runway in the boldest hue of poppy red with tulle and elegance in equal measures. We place our trust in Hollywood’s leading ladies to don the floral cloud of tulle perfection on the red carpet during awards season.
