Elie Saab Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2016

Think of an Indian princess in the early 1900s showering rich golds and crystal beads, sequins and appliqués; off for an adventure deep into the wild. The master couturier’s tested formula of glittering diaphanous dresses are just as impactful as usual, this time in shades of lilac and flattering golden hues. He updated the look for the modern princess with chain embellished knee length boots, metallic belt bags and draped chiffon to imitate an Indian sari with a trail to match. Here we look at our favourite moments from her adventure.

Antique headbands

One of spring's most coveted accessories, gets a traditional artisanal touch at Elie Saab in antique finishing for an ornate royal look.

Embellished boots

Metallic knee length boots with chain embellishments instantly toughen up an otherwise delicate and ethereal look.

Jodhpur trousers

Fashion's favourite trousers make a comeback but this time in silk tailored versions with an overlay at the front.

Sari Drapes

The enhanced sari-like drape inspired by traditional Indian bridal outfits are modernised with lace, sequins and chiffon textures.
