In a modern nod to a youthful and technologically connected audience, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana staged their SS16 collection on a highly topical concept, the selfie. Models strutted down the runway, pausing to admire their looks and posing to take a selfie. The photos were then instantly projected on large screens in the venue for the audience to see. Then in real-time they were posted on the label's Instagram and strategically stamped with a personalised hashtag #DGselfie, creating an instant social media buzz. The duo dug into the labels Italian roots to create a collection that encompassed the brands identifiable aesthetic. Bold bursts of colour painted the runway with iconic landmarks printed on several of the pieces from the collection, and models were decorated in ethnic inspired jewels and wrapped in delicate silk scarves.
