Couture Watch: Street Style

The street is just another runway for the attendees at Paris Haute Couture week

Street Style. Paris Haute Couture Week spring/summer 2015

There’s no better barometer of the trends that make it from the runway to real life than the Parisian streets during Paris Haute Couture week. Flowing capes, fringing and tulle midi-skirts make friends with quilted coats, fur and slim fitting over-the-knee boots. Our spring/summer shopping list just got a little bit longer.

Palettes of tan, camel and burgundy call to mind the seventies - a decade that is already informing our fashion choices for the months ahead. Elena Perminova elevates the trends with a bolo tie and exaggerated collar and carries off the look with the attitude of one who reinvents her style at a moment’s notice.

Head to toe print is a statement all of its own but Veronika Heilbrunner succeeds in making it look effortless by virtue of the practical roll neck layered underneath. Très bien.

If there is an epitome of French-girl chic it is embodied in model/muse Caroline de Maigret who uses masculine grey tailoring and a gold clutch to create a low key look which she manages to own perfectly.

As we look to the street for daily wardrobe inspiration one thing’s for sure: we’ll always have Paris.
