Loose pleats, lace embellishments and lavish construction formed the basis of Phoebe Philo's new vision for spring. Transforming the Tennis Club de Paris into a primary-colour space with tents by Fos, packed dirt floors and a serious fashion crowd was the ideal set up.

Philo gave a great lesson in contrasting colours and construction. Moving from sheer lace slips to structured outerwear, suiting-like plaid and black leather dresses, it was femininity with a focus on strong formations. Long ribbed knit dresses in dusty orange are sure to be a sartorial hit amongst the fashion powerhouses come spring. Exaggerated sleeves continue to gain steam as the trend of the season and overcoats came in a multitude of hues.

As per, the accessories were kept simple in solid structures. The bucket bag is back again - but this time smaller in size and with a patchwork leather exterior. Pointy shoes (much like the rest of the season) were on show and Chelsea boots shown in white and red. All very much suited to Celine's effortlessly cool woman.

Waving from the runway Philo stood dressed in muted hues, Celine shoes and with a sweater tied around her waist. A look sure to be emulated in the coming months. It's fair to say she always knows what women want.
