Launched to satisfy the needs of the modern day consumer last night’s see-now-buy-now collection by Burberry was available in stores minutes after the show ended. But, was it a collection worthy of a hurried dash to your local boutique? MOJEH.com investigates..
Exaggerated shoulders, military detailing and gossamer skirts indicated that there was certainly a new attitude in the air at the iconic British house where Christopher Bailey reigns supreme. Gone was the silhouette of the traditional belted trench coat and its its place were contemporary variations; sculpted jackets sparkling in tasteful military applique and simple, yet commanding cropped versions primed and insta-ready for the social media loving stars that sat front row. But, aside from these eminent streetstyle hits what had us sold was the direction of this collection as a whole.
Showcasing both men’s and womenswear, the styling and attitude of the collection was renewed and metamorphosed, which developed into an altogether edgier and cooler side of the quintessentially British label that we haven’t seen before. Our favourites would have to be the ruffled boy’s shirts and the bell-sleeved knits with an appealing timeless quality.
