6 Things We Learned from Fashion Month

After an intensive fashion schedule in the capital, here's the final word from the catwalk

By Jemma Walker

1. Fur-free fur does exist

Thanks to a lifelong vegetarian outlook, ardent anti-fur campaigner Stella McCartney finally introduced synthetic shaggy coats to her AW15 collection with a ‘Fur Free Fur’ label. Now we can achieve that luxury look without the ethical conundrum.

2. Zoolander is coming back for more

It's that damn Hansel! He's so hot right now! The sequel to the outrageously funny Zoolander was announced at the Valentino show by Derek (Ben Stiller) and Hansel (Owen Wilson) strutting down the catwalk to the gasps and shrieks of the FROW.

3. Galliano returns from fashion exile

John Galliano made an impressive (though elusive) recovery with a dramatic collection for Maison Margiela, although he refused to close the catwalk amid thundering cheers and continued clapping from the audience. It’s safe to say the not-so-enfant terrible is back.

4. Fashion isn’t just for grown ups

Dolce & Gabbana was all about family values this season with mothers, toddlers and babies taking to the runway in matching ensembles looking almost too cute. Not forgetting that David Beckham and Kim Kardashian brought their children to the Paris FROW too – it was a family affair in the capital.

5. Kendall Jenner is so hot right now

Cara Delevingne’s best friend walked for six of the biggest fashion houses for AW15: Alexander Wang, Donna Karan, Diane Von Furstenberg, Oscar del la Renta, Marc Jacobs and Vera Wang all couldn’t resist the 19-year-old’s charm.

6. Winter is all about wearable ensembles

Forget unworkable pencil skirts, backbreaking heels and restricting jackets. This year will see practical clothing making a comeback for a comfy autumn/winter. With soft roomy knits, trousers and oversized relaxed coats, it seems DKNY, Derek Lam, Fendi and even Karl Lagerfeld opted for a small nude heel.
