MOJEH chats to Nicky Zimmermann the designer behind coveted Australian swimwear and ready-to-wear brand Zimmermann about curating the perfect holiday wardrobe, her favourite vacation spot and her beauty secrets.
You have showrooms and offices in New York, Miami, Sydney and London, do you enjoy travelling constantly?
When you’re based in Sydney, it just becomes part of life and you become used to being on a plane to get everywhere. I really love travelling – not so much the flying, but being lucky enough to visit so many wonderful places and meet new people and reconnect regularly with old friends.
What are your essential holiday wardrobe pieces?
For a summer holiday, I like to have lots of easy, relaxed dresses that I can wear to the beach or out for dinner. I always have a few hats – the more the better. I take lots of our swimwear, I like to change swimsuits a lot. And I always travel with a leather jacket to wear when I fly.
Where are your favourite vacation spots?
I love being in Greece. It’s a special place for me because I got married there and have visited regularly ever since. I also love spending summers on the beaches around Sydney, it’s such a beautiful place to be when the sun shines.
What is your beauty routine?
I like to keep it pretty simple, really clean skin is really important to me. I use an Eve Lom cleanser and muslin cloth which also works as an exfoliator and a great sunscreen called Actinica.
Your designs tend to be trans-seasonal, in your opinion what are the staple pieces of a season-less wardrobe?
For me it’s definitely dresses, lightweight knits that can be layered, great jeans or track style pants and unstructured jackets.
