Step away from the dress. Suits have become a go-to for both the board and ballroom, especially since Karl Lagerfeld’s gender-defying take on the wedding gown for Chanel’s A/W15 haute couture show. Look toward soft tailoring for a feminine take.

Mix sparkly details with sheer fabrics for a look that leans more towards soft and sensual, as opposed to loud and garish. A great option in any hue, but black keeps things elegant and refined.

If simplicity is your thing then look towards awe-inspiring accessories to up the ante. The right piece can turn even the humblest of cotton dresses into an event favourite.

On the other hand, if December is your month to show the world what you’re made of then don’t be afraid to go big. Extravagant hats, full-length gloves and heavy embellishment…there’s no such thing as ‘too much’.
