The front row at haute couture week in Paris is a veritable magnet for the most stylish of fashion mavens and this season is no exception. From Golden Globe winners to supermodel icons, we bring you the who’s who of the most exclusive week in fashion.
Chanel took to the casino to show its couture AW15 collection of prim skirt suits and unconventional bridal wear, but this was a casino with a difference. Still Alice co-stars Kristen Stewart and Julianne Moore joined models Lara Stone and Stella Tenant to play Bond-esque casino patrons while Vanessa Paradis and daughter Lily-Rose Depp added a dash of Parisian flair. Combined with the haute couture looks parading the plush venue this was a moving feast for the senses, proving once more that Karl Lagerfeld is the king of showmanship.
Fashion’s cognoscenti always adore Dior. Raf Simons presented a youthful collection of intricate pointillist florals and off-kilter outwear that referenced the Flemish masters and drew everyone from actresses Emily Blunt and Lupita Nyong’o to Natalia Vodianova into his fantastical fairytale vision of couture.
We expect Donatella Versace to reign as queen of haute couture glamour and while the Atelier Versace collection may have delved into a lavish romanticism that temporarily usurped the brand’s bombshell DNA, the front row attendees certainly embodied the Versace aesthetic. Models Naomi Campbell, Irina Shayk and Petra Nemcova amplified the front row in a trifecta of brights perfect for a Parisian heatwave.
Creative director at Schiaparelli, Bertrand Guyon, was cheered on from the wings by fellow couturiers Pierpaolo Piccioli and Maria Grazia Chiuri of Valentino (Bertrand formerly designed for the house). The heritage-inspired show entitled Le Theatre d’Elsa teemed with creatives eager to embrace Guyon’s debut collection, including accessories designer Olympia Le Tan, Daphne Guinness and actress Camille Seydoux.
