The year of the comeback has seen a revival in Y2K trends, pearls and low-rise jeans (unfortunately) and now opera gloves are having their moment in the spotlight. We saw the Old Hollywood accessory hit both the spring/summer and autumn/winter 2022 catwalks with Balenciaga, Valentino, Erdem, Fendi and Christian Siriano and more designers getting in on the action. The subsequent celebrity obsession with the trend – Kim Kardashian, Dua Lipa, Saweetie and Kylie Jenner are all fans – has driven Google searches for “evening gloves” up by 140 per cent.
