Saint Laurent SS25 Was A Bold Take On Power Dressing

Vaccarello reinvented the art of power dressing, demonstrating that confidence and sensuality can—and should—walk hand in hand

At Paris Fashion Week, Anthony Vaccarello’s Women’s Summer 2025 collection for Saint Laurent elevated power dressing to new, seductive heights. This season, the designer offered a cheeky nod to office-core style but dialled it up in a way that felt both rebellious and glamorous - ideal for those who believe in bending the rules rather than following them.

Vaccarello began with classic power looks: shirts, blazers and ties. The office-core staples were sharp and crisp, but true to Saint Laurent fashion, they were styled with oversized gold bangles and earrings that added a playful contrast to the otherwise buttoned-up vibe. This fusion of masculine and feminine elements brought the collection to life, transforming traditional office attire into armour for the modern woman - ready to conquer anything, whether it’s a boardroom meeting or a rooftop party. The silhouettes, with their broad shoulders and cinched waists, spoke of confidence, while the accessories injected a fun and unexpected twist.

Of course, it wasn’t all business. The collection transitioned beautifully from power-packed office attire to evening wear that shimmered under the Parisian lights. Picture skirts with playful ruffles complemented by delicate lace peeking out beneath. The evening jackets sparkled with shimmery textures, creating stunning contrasts in colour and fabric. The lace appeared as though it was born from the models themselves, fitting them flawlessly. The colour palette - a burst of fresh air with deep emeralds and lively corals - created a wave of joy and movement, allowing the collection to shift effortlessly from day to night.

The delightful contrast between the structured office-inspired looks and the playful, feminine evening pieces was pure magic. Set against a dramatic backdrop - complete with a towering golden frieze and a courtyard bathed in soft, golden light - Vaccarello’s show felt nothing short of cinematic. The iconic blue floor, a homage to Yves Saint Laurent’s Marrakech garden, added a rich layer of nostalgia, while the tall, dark volume of the set provided an air of mystery. With an open oculus revealing the night sky, the setting felt like an escape into another world—one where power and beauty coexisted in perfect harmony.

Each model, from long-time Saint Laurent muses like Bella Hadid to fresh faces, embodied the collection’s ethos: women who are unapologetically strong, fiercely independent and unafraid to indulge in a little glamour. Vaccarello’s tribute to the many women who have shaped Saint Laurent was woven into the collection, with every look named after a muse important to the House’s history.

In this collection, Vaccarello reinvented the art of power dressing, demonstrating that confidence and sensuality can - and should - walk hand in hand.
