Paul Costelloe made history at this year’s London Fashion Week, celebrating a remarkable 40-year run as a fixture of the event. His Spring/Summer 2025 collection, presented at the Waldorf Hotel in Covent Garden, not only honoured this significant milestone but also reinforced his status as a true fashion legend.

The 40th-anniversary show, aptly named Le ciel est bleu (The Sky is Blue), was a tribute to Paris, a city that has profoundly influenced Costelloe’s career. “Paris has always been a source of inspiration for me,” Costelloe told MOJEH backstage at the show. “This collection is my ode to the city and a reflection of the journey that has defined my career.”

Though he has 40 years under his belt, Costelloe’s creativity remains as vibrant as ever. His latest collection was a captivating blend of timeless elegance and modern flair. Sumptuous Irish linens, silk jacquards and cottons in radiant pastels paired with bold checks and floral prints set a dynamic tone for the runway, while oversized coats, flowing dresses and voluminous skirts captured the carefree spirit of summer with a sophisticated twist. For SS25, Costelloe revisited iconic motifs from his past collections, reinterpreting them with a contemporary touch. The interplay of soft pastels and bold hues, including vivid reds and cobalt blues, added a lively energy to the show.

A standout moment was the introduction of Costelloe’s debut bridal collection. “Venturing into bridal wear is a new chapter for me,” he said. “I aimed to infuse these designs with the same elegance and romance that have always been at the heart of my work.” Naturally, the bridal pieces fit seamlessly within the collection’s romantic theme.

Family has been a cornerstone of Costelloe’s career. His wife, Anne, is a company director; his daughter, Jessica, manages PR; and his son, William, serves as the design director. “Family keeps me grounded,” Costelloe said. “I’m proud of what we’ve built together.” Reflecting on his career, Costelloe described it as “a chequered journey with its ups and downs.” Despite the challenges and triumphs, he continues to evolve and innovate, showing that the power of creativity knows no bounds. Backstage, his legendary status was evident as he engaged with his team and ensured every detail was perfect.

Age is no barrier to Costelloe’s creative spirit. At 79 years old, he remains a dynamic force in fashion, proving that true creativity only strengthens with time. His enduring presence at London Fashion Week reaffirms his legacy as a fashion icon, demonstrating that innovation and passion are timeless.
