A JW Anderson runway show is always a standout moment in fashion, and it never disappoints. From the collection to the venue, music, and star-studded guest list, the brand consistently delivers a masterclass in luxury and style.
This year was no exception. Held at Old Billingsgate, with the iconic Tower Bridge and the River Thames as a stunning backdrop, guests were treated to a rare sunny London day. The atmosphere was electric, as fashion icons like Anna Wintour, James Blake, Poppy Delevingne and many more graced the audience. This show was a reminder to everyone of what London Fashion Week is truly about – talent, innovation and pure, fabulous fun.
The collection took a daring turn, using self-imposed design limitations to ignite creativity. Focused on a select range of materials - silk satin, cashmere, calf leather, and sequins - it offered a minimalist yet elegant aesthetic, with lace providing the sole touch of embellishment.
These restrictions paved the way for an exciting exploration of modern femininity, where bold contrasts of shape and proportion took centre stage. Chunky knit stitches mimicked weaving, while oversized bows and off-kilter flaps transformed skirts and dresses into pieces of sculptural art. Blankets became flowing dresses, and skirts were crafted into perfectly round, suspended forms.
The collection's surface details shone through, with lace accents gracing V-shaped necklines and retro argyle prints making a nostalgic return. The contrast between skin-hugging silhouettes and voluminous pieces created a delicate balance between structure and softness, all grounded by flat boots and JW Anderson’s signature Loafer bag, elevating the collection's wearable luxury to new heights.
