Georges Hobeika Pays Tribute To His Mother With The SS25 Haute Couture Collection

Jan 27, 2025 | 3 min read

A collection that begins as an ode to the couturier’s mother, Marie Hobeika, ends as a celebration for a life well-lived

Having contributed to the foundation that stands below the House, Marie Hobeika had been a constant source of support and inspiration for Georges and Jad Hobeika until her passing in 2024. The father-son duo honours their mother and grandmother with a haute couture collection that is all things sequins, trails and lace.

As tear-streaked models in black attires open the show, the mood is solemn and serious, almost mimicking the sanctity of a funeral. The dresses come in figure-flattering silhouettes with tear-drop earrings and flower-accented bags complementing each look. The black ensembles slowly converge with golden accents and later, entire gold outfits that are the epitome of opulence.

Catching the eye were golden rosaries in the hands of the models, striking a balance between an accessory and thoughtful ode. Birds, insects and foliage also found themselves as part of the designs, weaving a meaningful story that was up for interpretation.

Trading darker hues for a more vibrant colour palette as the show progressed, the runway saw doses of lavender, blue, green and red. There was no scarcity for over-the-top gowns either, embellished from head to toe, offering even the most casual dresser the urge to experiment and indulge. Closing the show were Georges Hobeika's signature, sought-after bridal gowns, ending on an optimistic sentiment of new beginnings that contrasted the opening.

The Georges Hobeika Haute Couture spring/summer 2025 collection is a celebration of the legacy left behind and its impact converted into a language of elegant embroidery and craftsmanship.
