Five Beauty Trends From Milan Fashion Week SS25

Sep 24, 2024 | 7 min read

Dolce & Gabbana's winged liner, Attico's grunge aesthetic and Jil Sander's sculpted fringes - there were plenty of brave beauty looks on the SS25 runways

Although New York and London may be first on the Fashion Month calendar, the party doesn’t really start until Milan. Milan Fashion Week is packed with powerhouses including Dolce & Gabbana, Prada, Bottega Veneta and Moschino, and all eyes are on the runways to see what we’ll be fawning over come summer 2025. Clothes aside, the beauty looks are as head-turning as the collections, with looks ranging from glamorous and replicable to the downright bonkers. These are the five best beauty trends MOJEH spotted on the runways at Milan Fashion Week.

Rock Out

There were multiple takes on grunge at Milan Fashion Week this year - looks weren’t limited to up-all-night liner and dramatised under-eye bags. N21 took a 1960s grunge-glam approach with chunky mascara à la Twiggy and backcombed updos, finished with embellished clips. Attico, meanwhile, went messier with smudged shadows and Elisabetta Franchi opted for a carefully smoked cat-eye.

Walk The Line

Ah, the wing. A staple on catwalks around the world, it has taken many forms, and Milan Fashion Week showcased them all. The classic cat-eye was a staple at Dolce & Gabbana (of course), while Gucci incorporated a sharper, straighter wing complemented by subtle shimmer. As for Scervino, it was all about graphic, haphazard edges paired with a bare complexion and brushed-up brows.

New Classic

A red lip may as well be part of the uniform in Italy and Milan Fashion Week demonstrated why. Timeless, elevated and versatile, the runways paraded a plethora of shades from brick and scarlet to deep burgundy. Hui went classic pin-up with a defined lip; Versace used a reddish-brown shade, blotted to avoid overwhelm (wise, considering the pattern-heavy collection); and Emporio Armani went the opposite direction with high-gloss shades that bordered on fuchsia.

Gone Swimming

The wet look may be nothing new, though Houses attempted to shake-up the style with both updos and undone, just-finished-swimming approaches. The former, for instance, was nailed at Etro, Max Mara and Elisabetta Franchi, and the latter took centre stage at Jil Sander and Attico.

Smile And Wave

Loose, lightly brushed waves bounce on the runway and are the perfect accompaniment to collections erring on the sultry side. Case in point? Alberta Ferretti, Ferragamo, Scervano and Roberto Cavalli.
