Chanel has officially put its stamp on the Grand Palais. The historical site, of which the House has been a patron since 2015 and utilised as a show space since 2005, recently reopened after a years-long restoration and was the location of the spring/summer 2025 show on the final day of Paris Fashion Week. What’s more, a plaque boasting Gabrielle Chanel's name now adorns the nave.
This is the second Chanel collection to be presented by the in-house Creation Studio and, fittingly, has a theme of flight, independence and spreading one’s wings. In an aviary-esque space punctuated by an oversized birdcage replicating the architecture of the surroundings, a collection abundant with feathers, freeing silk silhouettes and chiffon capes was revealed, while Riley Keough serenaded the audience.
Gabrielle Chanel’s glass ceiling-shattering way of life is honoured through aviator jackets, flight suits and uniform dresses - pieces that were reserved for industries and occupations once deemed unfit for women - while kaleidoscopic colours and prints further emphasise the foundation of freedom and self-expression. As always, House codes of multicoloured tweed, black bows, quilted accessories and platform Mary Janes complete the collection. Rewatch the show
