Apple Martin Makes Her Fashion Week Debut At Chanel

Jan 26, 2023 | 4 min read

Is Apple Martin officially a Chanel Girl?

"Is that... Gwyneth Paltrow?" spectators in attendance at Chanel's spring/summer haute couture show presumably asked. To everyone's surprise, it was not the actress and entrepreneur, but her daughter and spitting image, Apple Martin. Going all-out grunge-glam, Apple teamed her Chanel tweed suit with kohl-lined eyes and lightly layered hair. A certified Chanel Girl, Apple was in equally fashionable company, landing a seat next to Lucy Boynton and Sadie Sink.

Whimsical, light-hearted and romantic, Chanel's spring/summer 2023 haute couture collection is a joyful interpretation of parades and spectacles. The collection is youthful with an easy-to-wear lightness, though with all the traditional marks of Chanel couture. Tweed day suits, this time constructed with glittering metallic-gold threads; top hats teamed with silk tulle; beaded dresses begging to be twirled in. For the collection, Virginie Viard found inspiration in Gabrielle Chanel's Rue Cambon apartment - specifically, the collectable objects, artworks and sculptures scattered throughout the space. Kittens, corgis and swallows are embroidered onto tweed suits alongside emblems of the House, their participation in the playful collection mirrored in the set design; models sashayed like ringmasters around wood and cardboard animal sculptures. The show concluded with swallows, embroidered on a thigh-length veil for this season's Chanel bride.
