Maria Grazia Chiuri knows how to put on a show. The Dior SS25 presentation in Paris was a show of strength, femininity, grace and elegance, not least because of SAGG Napoli shooting arrows in the centre of the runway like a Dior-clad Lara Croft. The show commenced when the first arrow from the competitive archer and artist struck an eye-shaped target, and she continued to showcase her skill throughout, eventually closing the show with a strut of her own.
The performance hammered home the athletic themes of the collection as well as Maria Grazia Chiuri's empowering message that femininity and strength are one and the same. Bodysuits were a foundation of the collection and appeared alone, worn under dresses and with draped skirts, the latter almost reminiscent of heading home from an afternoon at ballet rehearsals. The athleticwear-as-daywear theme was evident throughout (does anyone actually wear gym clothes to the gym?), especially in oversized totes slung over the shoulder. Racing stripes, varsity jackets and utilitarian pieces reiterated the sportswear inspiration while House codes shone through relaxed tailoring and reliable outerwear and Maria Grazia Chiuri's ongoing Greek influences appeared through drapery and gladiator boots.
