Giambattista Valli’s Spring/Summer 2025 Haute Couture show was nothing short of a romantic odyssey, staged at the opulent Pavillon Vendôme. Inspired by Morocco’s rich culture, the collection transported the audience to a dreamscape where craftsmanship, beauty, and storytelling intertwined. The Moroccan influence was a melody. From intricate embroidery to a diverse fairytale palette, Valli paid homage to the country’s sophisticated sensuality and love for detail.
This season, Valli masterfully danced between opposites: airy, marshmallow-like volumes and sharply sculpted column gowns, with each piece exuding a youthful lightness and effortless glamour. There was a sense of freedom woven into the collection, where structure and whimsy collided, resulting in designs that felt as poetic as they were powerful.
Among the standout looks was a shell-pink tunic that captured a breezy ’60s allure, its fluidity radiating understated glamour. Then came the drama: oversized bows, exaggerated ruffles, and bold draping that felt unapologetically grand. Golden lamé jacquards, shimmering crystal chains, and gossamer silk chiffons delivered opulence, while black-and-white contrasts anchored the collection with timeless chic. Florals burst onto the runway, pops of vibrant colour demanded attention, and bows - oh, the bows - took centre stage. Valli declared their reign isn’t over, and after this show, it’s hard to disagree.
Nature played muse throughout the collection, with botanical motifs like marigold and poppy blooms blossoming across golden jacquards. Silk chiffons appeared in a painter’s palette of scarlet, bubblegum, and daring shades of red, infusing the runway with an organic vibrancy. Each look was a masterclass in texture and detail - hand-pleated ruffles, draping, and hand-painted floral embroideries elevated the collection to a realm of couture fantasy.
The show’s creative collaborators added another layer of magic. Stéphane Marais’ ethereal makeup, Pierpaolo Lai’s dreamy hair designs, and Sylvie Vacca’s delicate nail artistry harmonised perfectly with the collection’s romantic mood. Thomas Roussel’s original score provided a cinematic backdrop, enveloping the audience in a world where Valli’s vision came alive.
