Before New York Fashion Week kick starts the season, here’s an edit of the 5 hotspots to visit in the City That Never Sleeps.

The Boutique

Pick up a pre-fashion week treat at the French diamond boutique, Djula. They opened their first New York store on the city’s iconic Madison Avenue this August. The 21-year-old Paris-based jeweller is known for its intricate 18k gold and diamond signature pieces inspired by the 1920's Art Deco movement.

The Brunch Hotspot

Owner, Amanda Cohen inside Dirt Candy

Vegetarians can rejoice when chef-owner Amanda Cohen launches her first brunch menu later this week in the city’s incredibly popular Dirt Candy. Boasting a delicious array of vegetarian dishes and classic cocktails, with wide-open spaces and banquette seating, it’s a casual place to enjoy a quick fashion week bite in between the shows. Brunch is served 11.30am – 2.30pm on Saturdays and Sundays.

For a little dose of culture head to Manhattan’s Throckmorton Fine Art gallery, and draw inspiration from one of fashion’s most unexpected muses, Frida Kahlo. Entitled Mirror Mirror, the exhibition showcases portraits of Kahlo by 20 renowned photographers and artists throughout her lifetime, from the likes of Bernard Silberstein, Emmy Lou Packard and Kahlo’s husband, Diego Rivera. Be sure to catch the last showing on September 12.

The Pre-Fashion Week Event

American singer/songwriter Charlyn Marie Marshal, known by her stage name Cat Power, is headlining the infamous Webster Hall on September 9 on the eve of New York Fashion Week. Celebrate tracks from the singer’s latest album, Sun along with a rich archive of records dating back to 1995.

The Fitness Craze

Though you won’t be put through your paces on the treadmill at Face Love Fitness in New York’s financial district, there’s still a workout session to be had, and it’s for the complexion. Face Love Fitness’ mission is to work face muscles the same way we do the rest of our bodies in order to increase circulation, prevent premature ageing and to even the skin tone. A session at Face Love Fitness may involve a massage to activate the muscles, a forehead lift to tone the eye area, chin presses with a Pilates ring that rests under the chin, cooling jade rollers and a generous spritz of an orange mist at the end.
