4 Extroverted Beauty Trends From Milan Fashion Week

The fashion was striking, but what really commanded attention were the beauty looks

Milan Fashion Week celebrated Italian heritage, from Fendi's centenary to Giorgio Armani's 50th anniversary, delivering memorable runway moments throughout the week. Beyond the dramatic displays and iconic silhouettes, the beauty looks added some pizzazz. Bold lips and effortlessly tousled hair (read: bed head, but chic) provided just the right touch of drama, creating trends waiting to be tried out.

Give Your Wing A Makeover

Whether it was the double wing at Armani or the bold lines at Elisabetta Franchi reminiscent of relatable at-home attempts, makeup artists moved away from the ordinary, adding the right amount of oomph when it came to drawing the wing. According to Armani's makeup artist Hiromi Udea, “a sheer touch of eye tint adds subtle definition and elongates the eye.” This might not be your go-to for a first date or a Sunday brunch, but is perfect to bring out that Italian glamour come nighttime.

Bold Lips Don’t Lie

Plum-toned vamp lips emerged as the most consistent trend at Milan Fashion Week, having made an appearance at Versace and Francesco Murano among many others. The captivating colour, balancing the punch of a striking red and a deep purple, created a look that is undeniably sophisticated thanks to its glossy finish. Paired with sleek hair and gold jewellery, the lips become the star of the show. At Versace, Pat McGrath turned to her Dramatique Mega Lip Pencil in Flesh 3 to achieve the dramatic look.

We Like The Frizz

On Miuccia Prada’s runway, a statement was made with disheveled, frizzy hair, giving models an effortlessly nonchalant look. This 'just rolled out of bed' aesthetic was also echoed at Emporio Armani, Moschino and N21, suggesting that perhaps our bad hair days aren't so bad after all. Take it from us, it’s time to brush out your curls and embrace the "I woke up like this” look.

No More Blues?

Forget your go-to black liner as blue is the star of the moment. From a subtle waterline accent at Genny to glitter-bombed lids at Blumarine, blue is injecting every look with a touch of unexpected excitement. At David Koma's Blumarine show, makeup artist Patrick Glatthar transformed models' lids through smoky eyes, each subtly complemented with a blue hue, adding a mysterious allure to both the beauty looks and the show.
