Fashion Film: Chanel’s Haute Couture Collection Dazzles From Day To Night

1 min 06 sec

Watch Chanel’s autumn/winter 2020 haute couture collection come to life and dance into the night

“I was thinking about a punk princess coming out of ‘Le Palace’ at dawn, with a taffeta dress, big hair, feathers and lots of jewellery,” says Virginie Viard, while showcasing her latest haute couture offering for Chanel. Full of eccentric tweeds and edgy romance, Viard explains that “this collection is more inspired by Karl Lagerfeld than Gabrielle Chanel.” Captured on film for MOJEH’s September 2020 issue, directed by Christophe Evrard, Viard’s punk princess (model Debora Gomes) twirls in the streets wearing big-energy skirts, look-at-me collars and opulent embellishments made to shine.

Black bow-adorned dresses and light grey separates are offset with flashes of fuchsia and violet, and elevated with Chanel’s Comete Sapphire tiara. “For me, Haute Couture is romantic by its very essence. There is so much love in each one of these silhouettes,” says Viard. An ode to ultra-rock romanticism this fashion film captures the spirit of Viard’s collection and takes us back into the heart of Karl’s world. Time to dance from dusk until dawn.
