Burberry Brings London to Los Angeles

It’s the city challenging New York for the title of US fashion capital. After Tom Ford presented his autumn/winter 2015 collection in LA earlier this year, now Burberry have followed suit revealing 30 new AW15 pieces during their ‘London in Los Angeles’ runway in the iconic Griffith Park – with a little help from Naomi Campbell, Jourdan Dunn and James Corden.

The event marked the first time a British designer used the exclusive location and, with British and American flags lining the street approaching the Buckingham Palace-like gates, Burberry CEO Christopher Bailey accomplished the perfect transformation. “It is an incredible honour and a huge privilege to be able to bring a little bit of Burberry’s hometown of London to such an iconic venue in the heart of Los Angeles,” he said. “Griffith Observatory is a truly inspiring place and I would like to thank the city for allowing us to host our event there.”

The brand’s sentiment to craft and tradition flowed through every element, with a mostly British front row interjected with Hollywood favourites. Vegetarian shepherd’s pie canapés and performances from English musicians George Ezra and Tom Odell also welcomed guests to the post-runway garden party. As always, the show was never just ‘a show’; Bailey celebrated the opening of his new Rodeo Drive flagship store with a rare catwalk appearance from supermodel Naomi Campbell and campaign co-star Jourdan Dunn, alongside the Queen’s Horse Guards and a little help from recently appointed Late Late Show host James Corden wearing a signature Burberry scarf.

Elton John, Anna Wintour and the entire Beckham family could be spotted on the FROW, but whether you were watching the sunset in LA or Dubai – in another Burberry first – you could catch the entire show streaming live via the new Periscope app. This shows yet another luxury brand embracing modern technology following Chanel’s foray onto online with their Coco Crush jewellery collection.

Burberry’s performance was always going to be hard to beat, but with an awash of beauty looks from Rosie Huntington-Whitely, Kate Beckinsale, pregnant Jamie King and Mila Kunis, the style continued long after the runway:
