Jetting off this summer? Here are designer Amira Haroon’s travel fashion essentials
Having spent most of her life between Saudi Arabia and Dubai, fashion designer Amira Haroon is constantly on the go—travelling between the countries, going to Europe for work, and squeezing in the occasional vacation. Here are her globe-trotting must-haves that never leave her suitcase.

On the SS18 trends she will be wearing:
A white striped kimono kaftan and the perfect casual pair of pants are all I want to pack this year for my resort getaways. Fortunately the Amira Haroon SS18 and Festive 18 collections, available on Ounass and Bloomingdales, offer just the right selections. I plan to wear the pants with a white tee or a swimsuit. Either will give a fantastic summer vibe. As for the breezy white striped cotton kaftan, it’s a piece that’ll take me from day to night anywhere this summer.
On her summer holiday pack-list:
I love travelling with my new Louis Vuitton Horizon 55 trolley. This 4-wheeled carry-on has a completely flat interior and is super light to carry. It’ll fill all my travel essentials starting with my Selim Mouzaner jewels. These are pieces I almost never travel without; presents from my girlfriends that I never take off. I’ll definitely be taking my Van Cleef & Arpels Alhambra watch as it reminds me of a special holiday I spent with my husband. And then there is this Karla Colletto Zaha halter swimsuit I’ve been eyeing on MyTheresa, it’s an unapologetically feminine suitcase savior.
Her beauty must-haves for travel:
To protect my sensitive skin from sunburns I use SkinCeuticals Mineral Radiance Sunscreen. I also pack Dior’s Fix It 2-in-1 Prime and Colour Correct Concealer, a product I simply can’t live without. My new find this year is YSL Daylight Touche Eclat Glow Shot Highlighter – a fancy new way of adding that extra sun kissed glow.
On her must-have shoes while on vacation:
For the holidays I’ll take my lace espadrilles from Valentino and ruffled slippers from Miu Miu.
On her go-to colours for summer:
Go to colours are obviously white and more white – as well as metallic neutrals!
On her ideal travel companion:
My perfect companions are my two boys and my husband. We usually love to be accompanied by our close friends and their children.
On her travel bucket list:
I would love to be able to travel to all the places my 13 year old wants to see in the next 5 years before he goes to college.
On her favourite summer destination:
Bodrum. I love the beauty of the Agean sea and the privacy of the beautiful restored gardens of the Mandarin Oriental resort in Turkbuku.
On the music on her iPod:
I don’t have an iPod anymore sadly. My son has made me tons of playlists on Spotify and I keep switching between them depending upon my mood.
On her holiday reads:
I will be reading a recent present from my best friend, Seat of the Soul by Gary Zukav. It is a very thought provoking and reflective read which definitely needs long and lazy days to finish.
On her scent for the summer:
My favourite scent would have to be Hermes Un Jardin Sur Le Toit. It’s one of the most uplifting breezy summer scents I have ever used.
